How it All Started
Yannick says it all started with a couple of renovation projects on places he used to rent with his family. He would offer to do all the work if the landlord would pay for the materials, and many of them agreed to that proposal. His first-ever kitchen renovation taught him how little he knew of plumbing at the time as they ended up with leaks in the middle of the night. Yannick felt inspired to learn as much as he could about the art of renovation and has come a long way since the early days of doing home improvements.
The Passion of DIY Renovation

For Yannick, it is all about the time cost and the benefit of renovating a place. To him, his work can often be better than someone who’s on the clock simply because it’s about his own home, and he naturally cares more. They recently found mold in his California home, and he quickly did the math. It would cost him tens of thousands of dollars to hire someone to fix it, or he could DIY it for a fraction of that price. He chose the latter. Over the course of a week, Yannick documented his project via Instagram, and the total cost was reduced to around $400 to $500.
What About Keeping a Happy Marriage?

As he’s grown older, Yannick claims he’s learned to let go of his stubbornness for the sake of creating something both he and his wife love. If she or their kids aren’t happy with the final look after a renovation, there is no point in having won the ‘decision’ battle in the first place.
